Welp. It's a wrap for Jussie Smollett and "Empire." Deets on him NOT returning to the show for the finale season, plus Terrence Howard and his wife are caught up in some tax evasion drama. More inside...

There were reports that the "Empire" writers were prepping for Jussie Smollett's return to the show for its finale season, but co-creator Lee Daniels says NOPE! Not True.

Daniels hopped on Twitter to clarify that Jussie's character will NOT be returning for the 6th and final season. It was announced last month that the FOX series would be renewed for the final season that's set to premiere this fall.

Viewers haven't seen much of Jussie on the show since he has been accused of staging a racist and homophobic attack back in January. He was cut from the final episodes of the fifth season.

As you know, he was hit with 16 felony charges of lying to police that were eventually dropped. The case was originally sealed, but all 400+ pages were recently released where new details about the case came out.

Earlier reports claimed Jussie had negotiated a contract extension to appear in the upcoming season, but the network said there were no plans for the character, Jamal Lyon, to return.

There you have it.

Meanwhile, Lee Daniels is working on a new comedy and he started filming today:

Speaking of "Empire"....

"Empire" actor Terrence Howard has some legal issues of his own now. The Hollywood actor and his soon-to-be wife (again) Mira Howard are being investigated by the federal government for tax evasion and we all know Uncle Sam does not play when it comes to his coin.

The Blast reports:

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the feds are interested in possible financial crimes committed by Howard, his third wife Mira Howard (they got divorced but got re-engaged last December) and Universal Bridges Inc. (a company owned by Mira).

The case stems out of the United States Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and is still ongoing.

We’ve learned that the actor has hired a high profile white collar criminal attorney to defend him in the investigation. Our sources say within the last few weeks, federal investigators have already had initial discussions with Howard.

Terrence Howard and his fiancée became aware they were under investigation on May 20, 2019.

Hmm...something tells us there's more to this story.
