A$AP Rocky is over in Stockholm for the Smash Festival. Earlier this week, a stroll on the Swedish streets with his crew turned into him beating a dude down.  Now, he's been arrested.  But A$AP's side of the story may prove why he was simply defending himself.

Earllier this week, video surfaced showing A$AP Rocky seemingly going from zero to 100 real quick on a couple men who were walking down the street in Stockholm.

Now, cops have put the rapper & model under arrest and he's being held in Sweden on "gross assault."  CBS News reports:

American rapper A$AP Rocky has been arrested for suspected assault in Sweden along with three other people over an incident that occurred on Sunday, Swedish officials have confirmed to CBS News. A Swedish Prosecution Office spokesman said the artist was arrested for suspected "gross assault," but would not provide any further details.

The prosecution office spokesman said the relationships between the four people placed under arrest were not clear.

While a certain outlet posted this video that appeared to show A$AP going HAM out of the blue, they conveniently didn't mention what led up to this.

What the initial reports didn't say (or show) was what led up to the beat down. A$AP himself shared this video showing the men following them for blocks, one of them allegedly (since we can't see the exact action but the before & after definitely make it clear) smashing A$AP's security guard over the head with his iPhone and headphones.  Blood was drawn, according to the bodyguard.  The men then demanded the bodyguard to "replace" his items. Several times, we can see A$AP's whole crew tell the men to stop following them and to leave them alone.

Watch A$AP's video (which he posted in parts on his own Instagram account) below:

It's unclear why the men crossed their path in the first place. But it is clear they intentionally stayed in their vicinity when they were asked to leave. We're not sure exactly when things got even more physical, but A$AP had clearly reached his limit.

"So a few drug addicts are not my fans," he said on his Instagram account. "We don't know these guys and we didn't want trouble, they followed us for 4 blocks, and they were slapping girls butts who passed, give me a break."

Also, a woman, not seen in the video, can be heard telling the rapper that one of the men, "slapped my ass and my girlfriend's ass."

CBS News says about A$AP's arrest:

A statement provided by the prosecutor's office on Wednesday said only that the investigation was still in "an initial stage" and thus no information about any evidence would be given.

Under Swedish law, he and the other suspects can be held for up to three days before they have to appear before a judge to face formal charges, but it might not take that long.

What a mess.
