Things are shaking up on "The Chi." The series has a new showrunner, plus some new faces joining the cast. Deets inside...

Bag secured!

Folks are leaving and new people are coming in in preparation for the next season of Lena Waithe’s hit series, “The Chi.”

LaLa Anthony’s acting career continues to flourish. The “Power” star just nabbed a recurring role for the upcoming season of “The Chi.” She’s playing a character named Dominique “Dom” Morris, a savvy businesswoman with dreams of more lucrative opportunities.

“New Edition Story” actor/singer Luke James and Get Out actor Lil Rel Howery have also signed on to guest star in multiple episodes for the third season of the SHOWTIME drama series.

Luke will play Victor “Trig” Taylor, Jake’s (Michael V. Epps) estranged older brother who wants to reunite his fractured family, but takes an unconventional approach. Lil Rel Howery will play Zeke Remnick, the owner of Sonny’s building who cares less about the community than the bottom line. Birgundi Baker (“Empire,” “Chicago Med”), who plays Kiesha, has been upped to a series regular.

In addition to the new on-camera faces, there have been some changes behind-the-scenes as well. Former showrunner Ayanna Floyd Davis will be replaced by Justin Hillian (“Snowfall”) as the new showrunner and he’ll also serve as an executive producer this season, joining Waithe and Oscar winner Common.

As you know, lead star Jason Mitchell will get killed off the show, following accusations of sexual assault by his on-screen girlfriend, Tiffany Boone, and others.

”The Chi” is currently in production in Chicago and is expected to return in 2020.

Y’all ready?
