Lizzo Wins Her First BET Award, Thanks Fellow Nominee Beyoncé For Contributing To The Culture

Lizzo hit the stage to perform for the first time at the BET Awards last year. THIS year, she brought home a trophy! Celebrate inside….

Lizzo sand & twerked her way to her very first BET Award last night.

The “Good As Hell” singer copped her very first BET Award after attending the awards show years prior. The "Like A Girl" singer didn’t win the first time she attended, but that didn’t stop her hustle. She didn’t win last year even though she hit the stage for the very first time at the awards show. However, last night was her night!

The 32-year-old singer won Best Female R&B/Pop Artist after being nominated in four categories. And during her acceptance speech, she praised all of the women she was up against in the category, including Beyoncé, H.E.R., Jhene Aiko, Kehlani, and Summer Walker.

”Beyonce thank you for everything that you have done for Black Culture,” she said.

The “Truth Hurts” singer also talked about always feeling like a winner throughout her life and encouraged her fans to do the same. Peep her speech below:

The "Juice" singer also posted her acceptance speech on her Instagram with the caption, "I don’t believe in being the ‘best of’ in a category of superior talent. I only believe in being the best me. Thank you @betawards for including my story in your celebration of our culture. I am beyond humbled and can’t wait to drop more of my genre-flipping feel good music lol! Trust me... it’s on the way."

Congrats, Lizzo!
