Joy Reid – one of the first black women to anchor a major evening news program – created TV ratings gold! Her new show “The ReidOut” raked in 2.6 million viewers. More inside…

HERstory is being made!

Joy Reid became one of the few black women to host a major evening news program. And she’s proving why she was chosen for the job.

The MSNBC host raked in 2.6 million viewers during the launch of her new primetime show, “The ReidOut" and it reportedly made history.

Nielsen Media Research reports “The ReidOut” was the second-highest rated program in the 7 pm time slot in MSNBC’s 24-year history.

For her debut, Joy interviewed with Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. At the end of Joe Biden’s interview, Joy asked the former Vice President if he’s committed to naming a Black woman as his vice-presidential running mate.

“Most African-Americans that I’ve talked to on a daily basis are very concerned that Black women, in particular, have been the heartbeat of the Democratic Party for a long time, really shored you up in places like South Carolina,” Reid said. “Are you committed to naming a Black woman as your vice presidential running mate?”

“I am not committed to naming any but the people I’ve named, and among them are four Black women,” Biden responded. “So that decision is underway now.”
