‘It Didn’t Work Out’: Taraji P. Henson Says Engagement To Kelvin Hayden Is Officially Off, ‘You Have To Show Up’

We knew something was up between Taraji P. Henson and Kelvin Hayden a few months ago. Now, it’s official: they’re over. Find out why inside…

Taraji P. Henson and her fiancé Kelvin Hayden have split up. This, confirmed by Taraji herself.

We knew something was going on a few months ago when the “Empire” actress celebrated her 50th birthday with JUST her girlfriends.  And not any pre or post celebrations with her fiancé.

While celebrating somewhere sunny with her homegirls, sis shared a few thirst trap posts on her social media accounts. We noticed, her former football player fiancé did not give her a birthday shoutout, which we found odd. She also wasn’t wearing her engagement ring during the B'Day festivities.

Weeks went on and the thirst traps flicks kept coming. This one definitely screamed "I'm single!":

Taraji & Kelvin got engaged in 2018 and were scheduled to trek down the aisle this year. He proposed on Mother’s Day 2018, first gifting her with a Cartier bracelet then he got down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage. When cheating rumors started to circulate in 2017, fans were wondering if they were going to make it. At the time, they appeared to be pretty solid in their relationship.

The Proud Mary actress and the Super Bowl winner were originally set to get married this Spring, but the COVID-19 pandemic put a halt on their nuptials.

During a recent interview with Power 105’s “The Breakfast Club” about trauma and relationships, the What Men Want actress confirmed she and Kelvin had called quits and explained why.

"I’m dedicated to the black man, y’all. I just turned 50 and I mean, I hadn't said it yet, but it didn't work out," she revealed. "I tried. I was, like 'Therapy, let's do the therapy thing,' but if you're both not on the same page with that then you feel like, you're taking it on yourself. And that's not a fair position for anybody to play in a relationship."

She continued:

“My happiness is not his responsibility and his happiness is not mine,” Henson shared. “We have to first learn how to make ourselves happy to make each other happy. And so, when one person is taking the weight of the entire relationship, it’s never gonna work. You have to show up and yes you want to be understanding but you can’t lose yourself in that understanding. You have to still stand up for yourself and be there for yourself. But it’s hard to do if the other person is doing that part either. That’s why relationships are so difficult—they’re difficult.

Now that she's single, Taraji has been working extra hard to keep her banging BAWDY tight:

Beast Mode! We're not mad.

Protecting your peace and valuing your happiness should be at the top of everyone's list of priorities.
