Musician Jon Batiste won Best Original Score for Pixar’s SOUL. The animated film, starring Jamie Foxx, Angela Bassett & Phylicia Rashad, also won Best Animated Motion Picture! Celebrate inside…

Cue the bass! We’ve got another winner on our hands.

Musician Jon Batiste shared his musical talents for Pixar’s hit animated movie, SOUL and it earned him recognition from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The New Orleans native, along with Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, won the Golden Globe for Best Original Score (presented by comedian  Tracy Morgan)!

The composers beat Alexandre Desplat (The Midnight Sky), Ludwig Göransson (Tenet), James Newton Howard (News of the World), and the duo of Reznor and Ross (David Fincher’s Mank).

The animated film about features voiceover work from Jamie Foxx, Phylicia Rashad, Angela Bassett, Queslove and Donell Rawlings.

There was a small technical glitch as Jon’s pre-taped acceptance speech started before Tracy could finish speaking, but nothing too major. He thanked everyone involved with the film and reminded viewers we “only have one life to live and one soul, and this soul is happy today.”

Check it:

SOUL also won Best Animated Motion Picture. Woot!

After the win, Jon shared a selfie with his dog, in which he captioned:

“We won the globe! Loulou approves #goldenglobe,” he wrote.

Adorbs. Congrats Jon Batiste!
