Olympic Champ & Mom Allyson Felix Is Covering $200K In Childcare For Other Olympic Moms In Tokyo

Olympic gold medalist Allyson Felix is making sure all the mom-athletes are provided childcare while competing at the Tokyo Olympics. Find out how she's doing it inside...

Allyson Felix is an athlete, but she's a mother first. And she's advocating for other mothers of young children who are also athletes.

The six-time Olympic gold medalist teamed up with her sponsor, Athleta, and the Women's Sports Foundation to create The Power of She Fund: Child Care Grants. The program has committed $200,000 to help fund child care costs for professional mom-athletes traveling to competitions.

Grant recipients will receive $10,000 each from the Fund to help some mom-athletes perform on the biggest stage in sports.

By the way, Simone Biles left Nike to join Athleta, and so did Allyson.

In 2019, Allyson called out her then-sponsor Nike for cutting her pay after she gave birth to her daughter, Camryn, in an exposé published in the New York Times.

Since then, she has been an advocate for Black maternal health and a champion for working moms.

"It was important to me and to Athleta that our partnership reflects that I am more than just an athlete. In fact, part of my contract includes provisions for my daughter, Camryn, to join me whenever I am competing," the three-time World Champion said.

"But not everyone has access to this type of support from a partner or sponsor. These grants are about showing the industry that all mom-athletes need this same comprehensive support to be able to participate in their athletic endeavors."

A generous queen.

Throughout her Olympic career, Allyson has won six gold and three silver medals since she made a splash at the Games in 2004. Allyson qualified for the 400 meters at the U.S. Olympic trials in June.

She's STILL killing it on the track and helping other mom-athletes like herself. And we STAN.
