Celebrity Stylist Law Roach Says He’s Retiring & The Fashion World Is Stunned!

Law Roach, the renowned celebrity stylist who has worked with A-list stars like Zendaya, Celine Dion, and Kerry Washington, has announced his retirement from the fashion industry. The news has left the fashion world stunned and saddened, as Roach has been a fixture in the industry for years and has helped shape the style of some of Hollywood's biggest names. More about his unexpected retirement inside…

Lawd! What’s really good in the fashion world?!

Law Roach, the acclaimed celebrity stylist known for his work with the likes of Zendaya, Megan Thee Stallion, and Celine Dion, has shocked the fashion world by announcing his retirement on Instagram.

In an Instagram post featuring a large red "Retired" stamp, he wrote, “My Cup is empty….. thank you to everyone who’ve supported me and my career over the years. Every person that trusted me with their image, I’m so grateful for you all. If this business was just about the clothes I would do it for the rest of my life but unfortunately it’s not! The politics , the lies and false narratives finally got me! You win … I’m out.”

The news has left many in disbelief, with some likening it to the sudden retirement of superstars like Beyoncé or LeBron James right after their historic performances. Roach's announcement came just days after he dressed Megan Thee Stallion and Kerry Washington for Vanity Fair’s Oscars afterparty, and weeks after he styled Zendaya in four stunning outfits for the NAACP Image Awards and the SAG Awards.

Roach, who has dubbed himself the "image architect," is widely respected for his innovative, red-carpet styles that draw from archival references and vintage pieces. He first made a name for himself in Chicago at Deliciously Vintage boutique, where he helped dress Kanye West. Roach also served as a judge on "America's Next Top Model" from 2016 to 2018.

However, Roach is perhaps best known for his work with Zendaya, whom he met when she was just 14 years old. The two have collaborated on countless high-profile events, including the film Malcolm & Marie, for which Roach served as costume designer. The news of Roach's retirement has sparked rumors and speculation, with some questioning whether it was related to his recent second-row seating at a fashion show or Zendaya's new contract with Louis Vuitton.

In response to the news, fans and friends in the fashion industry have expressed their support for Roach and raised concerns about the industry's impact on mental health. Some have praised Roach's willingness to stand up for himself and demand respect in a notoriously cut-throat and entitled industry. However, others have expressed sadness and disbelief at the loss of one of fashion's most innovative and creative voices. See some reactions below:

As the news continues to sink in, many are left wondering what this means for the future of fashion and who will step up to fill the void left by Roach's retirement. One thing is clear, however: Law Roach's impact on the industry will be felt for years to come.
