Jaden Smith is the star of the upcoming The Karate Kid movie remake. And he hit Paris in Las Vegas to do some promo and to accept his Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award at the ShoWest convention. His acceptance speech:
“My dad prepared a speech for me with a bunch of funny stuff in it,” Jaden said to the audience . “But I’m 11 and I’m nervous, so thank you!”
Funny. Congrats to him.
And Terry and Rebecca Crews hit “106 & Park” to promote their new BET reality show “Family Crews.” I love these two.

Is Essence magazine near folding? That’s what word around the magazine world is right now. A press release went out today announcing the retirement of Beauty and Cover Director Mikki Taylor who’s been at Essence for 30 years. We also found out that a major assistant as well the entire fashion team was AWOL today. And after a huge amount of layoffs last November, 6 more people “left” just last week. One was major Beauty editor Pamela Edwards Christiani–who is now over at People mag.
And we’re not going to even go in about the stock photo (instead of an actual photoshoot) the mag decided to use of Reggie Bush for their February cover.
Print everywhere is suffering, but is one of the only journalistic print mags for young black fashion and beauty savvy women about to be a goner? Hmmm.

It looks like our wishes have come true. Black Voices is reporting that BET is near to finalizing the deal to bring back “The Game.” New episodes and all. If everything goes as planned, new episodes will be shot this May with original Exec. Producer Mara Brock Akil on location in Atlanta. Here’s the scoop:
“The deal is done between the two networks,” the source told BV Buzz. “Now it’s a matter of getting the actors under contract again.”
When The CW canceled the show in May of last year, the contracts with the shows stars Tia Mowry, Pooch Hall, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez, Brittany Daniel and Coby Bell weren’t optioned and ultimately expired on June 30, 2009.
Now BET has to negotiate new contracts with the actors, which is expected to be done within the next two wMelanie & Derwin on ‘The Game’eeks.
“The show will have the same production value, so the actors will make the same type of money they made when they did ‘The Game’ for The CW,” the source shared.
The only hiccup is actor Coby Bell (Jason Pitts) who is currently starring in the tv show “Burn Notice.” Reports say he will likely still be on “The Game” if it returns, but in a recurring role. Sweet!

Looks like Mel B. went ahead and turned her side fade into a side complete baldy. She popped up on the red carpet for her friend’s event at Ceaser’s Palace in Vegas last night with her UK homie Leona Lewis. And showed off her extra shaven look.
And this week, Lance Gross and Forest Whitaker hit “106 & Park” to promote Our Family Wedding. Fun times.

Looks like all the “ATL Housewives” are returning. At least for now. Bravo network at their “Upfronts” last night in NY and “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast was in full effect. NeNe, Lisa, Sheree, Kandi, and of course Kim all posed for the cameras at they hit the venue.
Elsewhere in NY, Ludacris hit the “106 and Park” stage to perform the “My Chick Bad” remix with Trina and Diamond.

Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson is readying for his “Dancing With The Stars” debut. He’s been trying to tap into his feminine side and sexy up his dance outfits. But his coach Cheryl Burke isn’t having it:
“I have to continue to tell myself to get in touch with my feminine side… ’cause I got on the heels and I have to… be upright and it’s hard because I’m not used to this,” he added.
“He wants something see-thru he said,” Cheryl said straight-faced. “I mean, this is a family show!”
“It’s a family show, but listen, they need to know I’m edgy,” Chad responded as Cheryl laughed. “I’m trying to [make] my costumes 50% Lady Gaga, 50% Rihanna, and then with the help of [Cheryl], when I put it together with the dancing and the costumes with the heels? I mean… What?!”
We are not even mad Chad.
